Wait! There's More!
The Do's:
- Check the USCIS website for updates and read ALL the instructions from A to Z.
- Check your case status online and sign up for email updates (letters do get lost in the mail!).
- If you move, file the change of address form AR-11 online at USCIS within 10 days. Also, you
need to update your information for EVERY single pending case.
- Even if you do not plan to travel abroad, apply for an advance parole document. If there is a
family emergency, you will have one less thing to worry about.
- Keep a log of all your actions: who, what, where, when. If a letter or document gets lost in the
mail, this information can be very valuable.
- Always mail your documents/applications overnight. You spent so much time and money
completing your application, you want to make sure it reaches its final destination.

The Don'ts:
- Do not make any wedding arrangements until you get your Fiancee K-1 visa.
- Do not make any international travel arrangements until your advance parole document has been
approved.
- Be aware of the USCIS processing times. They are a mere indicator, not a truth written in stone.
If the U.S. immigration policy changes or the application fees increase, the number of applications
also increase... and eventually all this results in longer processing times.
The U.S. immigration policy changes so rapidly, my case may no longer be totally representative.
So I want to spare you the details, and instead, share some general but nevertheless valuable tips.
